Sunday Talk: “Sharing the Landscape: Species at Risk and Stewardship in the Okanagan and Similkameen”

August 10 @ 1:30 pm 2:30 pm PDT

presentation in apple house

When we look at the vast hills and mountains surrounding the Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys, it’s easy to assume there’s plenty of space left for wildlife. But for many species at risk, those spaces are shrinking.

In this insightful presentation, Lia McKinnon, Stewardship Biologist with the Okanagan Similkameen Stewardship Society, will explore the surprising ways humans and wildlife often compete for the same critical habitats. Focusing on a few key local species, Lia will share how OSS is working to restore and protect these environments—and how individuals, landowners, and communities can take meaningful action to support species at risk and help keep common species from becoming rare.
