Staghorn sumac is often planted as an ornamental shrub, but in many areas it has run wild and made itself a weed, including our area. The crimson clusters of berries are fully of lemony flavour. To make this jelly, we steep the berry clusters to make a tea, and then turn that into a flavourful tart spread that’s perfect on toast.
