The quince–which is related to apples and pears–isn’t a particularly pretty fruit, and you’d never want to make the mistake of eating one raw, but when you cook it, it releases the most incredible aroma and turns from nearly white to ruby red in colour. If you’ve never tried it before, be sure to give it a try! You’ll feel perfectly Victorian enjoying it on a fresh-baked scone with tea.
