ARTIST BIO

Drumhand

1363701400_DH_at_CyclesToronto ensemble DRUMHAND wields a name derived from the group’s percussive origins. Hands, sticks and mallets pounding out old and new rhythms on weathered skins: evoking ancient forms of ‘messaging’ via global beats for dancing bodies and curious ears! The group’s ‘folkloric’-style vocals appear in a variety of languages and sometimes offer audiences a part in the show.

If you like the sounds of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Yemen Blues, or Peter Gabriel’s collaborations with the Afro Celt Sound Sysytem – you’ll enjoy DRUMHAND.

KEY CONCERT SERIES INFO

Through the summer of 2013, the Grist Mill and Gardens at Keremeos will be hosting a handful of exceptional artists  in July and August for an evening concert series in our picturesque Historic Site. Unless otherwise noted, doors open at 6:30PM and concerts start at 7:00PM.

You are encouraged to bring your own blankets and low-rise beach chairs; higher lawn chairs are also welcome, but you may be asked to sit in the back to avoid obstructing the view of others. You’re welcome to bring your own water bottles (reusable or factory-sealed) but outside food or drink are prohibited on site. The Grist Mill & Gardens and the Similkameen Wineries Association will be operating a concession at each show.

Tickets are available for sale at the Grist Mill front desk ($15 per show or $50 for all four) or by phone at 250-499-2888 during business hours (daily 9 AM-5 PM). Some tickets may also be available at the door for each show, depending on availability, but a small surcharge will apply.
