Special Event: Celebrating BC Day
August 3, 2015
Come celebrate BC Day at the Grist Mill and Gardens on August 3rd. It will be a day full of activities for kids and families, including a youth talent show, face-painting, balloon animals, music and ventriloquism performances, storytelling, heritage games of skill, arts activities with the South Similkameen Arts Society, a homing pigeon release and so much more! Admission is 1/2 price for the day, and free for kids signing up for the talent show.
Know a kid with an exceptional talent? We’re excited to host a youth talent show here on BC Day, August 3rd as part of a day full of kid-oriented activities. Emcees Matt and Ruth Falk will be hosting this non-competitive showcase of local youth talent.
Kids interested in performing must sign in at the Summer Kitchen stage with a parent or guardian between 1:00 – 1:45PM. The showcase begins promptly at 2:00PM. Every participant gets a gift from the Grist Mill.
HERITAGE GAMES OF SKILL
More than a dozen field games and games of skill will be running on the lawn adjacent to our 138 year-old waterwheel powered flour mill, including ring toss, three-legged race, cover-the-spot, the games of graces and much more!
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
9:00 - Doors Open. 10:00 - Game stations and Vendor stations open. This includes: photo-booth at old water wheel, storytelling in the Apple House, SSASY's booth with scavenger hunt and craft, Henna Art, Balloon Animals/Face Painting, homing pigeon display and more. 10:30 - Tour of our 1877 waterwheel-powered flour mill. 11:00 - Kitchen opens for lunch service. Matt and Ruth Falk begin to perform. 12:00 - Pigeon Release with Charlie Cottrill. 12:30 - Dave Kelly the Ventriloquist performs. 1:00 - Registration for the talent show begins. 1:30 -Tour of our 1877 waterwheel-powered flour mill. 2:00 - Talent Show begins. 3:00 - Lunch Service ends. Tour of our 1877 waterwheel-powered flour mill. 5:00 - Doors close.
